SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
A standard email communication protocol.
Social network
A social network is a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organisations) that are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as values, visions, ideas, financial exchange, friendship, kinship, dislike, conflict or trade.
SQL (Structured Query Language)

Acryptographic protocol that provides security and data integrity for communications over TCP/IP networks such as the Internet.

An IP address that is the same each time a user connects to the Internet.
Streaming
A method of sending files over the Internet in such a way that the user can view it while it’s being transferred.
TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol)
The set of communications protocols used for the Internet and other similar networks.
UNZIP
Uncompressing a ZIPPED file.
Upload
To transfer a file from a local computer to a remote computer.
URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
A web address.
VBScript
The default scripting language for ASP developed by Microsoft.
Visit (in web terms)
A visit to a website. Commonly used to describe the activity for one visitor of a web site.
Visitor (in web terms)
A person visiting a website.
Visitor sessions
A series of one or more page impressions served to an individual user. A visitor sessions ends when there is a gap of 30 minutes or more between successive page impressions.

The term 'Web 2.0' describes the changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aim to enhance creativity, communications, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web.

A downloadable application most often written in Java.
Web browser
Software used to display web pages.
Web document
A document formatted for distribution over the web.
Web host service
A type of service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web.
Web page
A document created to be distributed over the web.
Web server
A computer that delivers web content to web browsers.
Website
A collection of web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are hosted on one or more web servers, usually accessible via the Internet.
Web Spider (Web Robot)
A program or automated script that browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner.
